When the snow cover is good, Mt. Selwyn, located at the northern end of Kosciuszko National Park, offers fantastic ski touring. Since the terrain is softer than on the Main Range, it is possible to take interesting ski tours to ancient huts as well as up ridges and to peaks that offer expansive views of the surroundings.
Within Kosciuszko National Park lies a freehold island known as Providence Portal. Providence Portal, which is a well-liked and convenient vacation spot for both skiers and anglers, is located just off the Snowy Mountains Highway and on the shores of Lake Eucumbene. Providence Portal is about 15 minutes from Adaminaby and 20 to 25 minutes from Selwyn Snowfields.
